Today is December 15, one week shy of the shortest day of the year. I tried my usual recipe - 2 cups dry beans, 5 cups water, garlic, onion, olive oil and little salt. I was very good about turning the cooker every two hours, 7 - 9 am, 9 to 11 am, 11am to 1pm then whoops! I forgot I was cooking. Went to the workshop, post office, UPS, grocery, got home just at sunset. The beans had boiled dry!!!. Now they are on the stove with more water and just starting to simmer. I live in
